The club was formed in 1937 as Long Buckby Nomads, joining the Northampton League. After the Second World War a reformed club joined the Rugby and District League, which they won for six successive seasons. The Bucks then moved to the Central Northants Combination, winning the title in 1955.
Long Buckby joined the United Counties League in 1968. They rose through the divisions, and having won the Second Division title for two consecutive years in 1970-71 and 1971-72, and having improved their ground were duly promoted to the First Division as it became the Premier Division in 1972-73. The club has remained there ever since, though fortunes on and off the field have fluctuated.
The Bucks moved to a new pitch in 1993 after the Sports Field obtained extra land, helped by the Rugby club, the local school and Daventry District Council. The club built a new stand, completely fenced the playing area, and refurbished the floodlights.
In the 2011-12 season, Long Buckby are playing in the United Counties League Premier Division, being led by manager Glen Botterill, in his second spell with the club following the departure of the previous manager Adam Sandy.
